Zuma, Gupta to testify at Eskom inquiry

Thursday August 17 is D-day for Duduzane Zuma and Ajay Gupta, who are due to testify at the parliamentary inquiry into Eskom.

The inquest into the state of affairs at the power utility officially starts on Tuesday, August 1, when a number of former board members with alleged ties to the Gupta family and their associates will be called as witnesses.
 
On August 3 Ben Ngubane, former Eskom chairperson who resigned after the explosive Gupta email leaks, will take the stand, while former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe will testify on Thursday, August 3.

Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown and her deputy Ben Martins will appear on August 10 in the morning and Eskom financial chief Anoj Singh will testify in the afternoon.
 
Matshela Koko, currently facing disciplinary action due to conflict of interest allegations, will appear on Tuesday, August 15.
 
MPs from the portfolio committee on public enterprises are hearing submissions from the South African Council of Churches, a group of academics such as Ivor Chipkin and Haroon Bhorat, and the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse about the independent research done into state capture of South Africa’s public enterprises.
