Emirates, which flies daily from Harare to Lusaka and Dubai, has been voted the best airline at this years' Service Excellence Awards in Zimbabwe - the second local award for the airline in the three weeks.

The airline received the service excellence award at an event in Harare on Friday (October 11) organised by the Contact Centre Association of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Buy Zimbabwe and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe.

The 2nd Annual Service Excellence Awards ceremony was held under the theme "celebrate success, inspire excellence" and marked the last day of the Zimbabwe Customer Service Week.

Emirates Country Manager for Zimbabwe Paulos Legesse received the award on behalf of the airline from Dr Maureen Kakubo Mwanawasa, founder and chair of the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative (MMCI) and former First Lady of Zambia.

Mr Legesse thanked the association for the recognition and pledged that the airline would continue to provide the high standard of service that it is renowned for.

"This latest award adds to more than 500 international awards received by the airline worldwide," said Mr Legesse. "Customer service is at the heart of everything that Emirates does, and we very much appreciate the recognition of this from the association."

The award came less than a month after Emirates was voted the Best International Airline by the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA).

Emirates provides award-winning service from its international cabin crew from more than 100 countries, gourmet cuisine and its state-of-the-art ice inflight entertainment system, which offers passengers hundreds of audio and visual entertainment. Customers travelling with Emirates benefit from a generous baggage allowance 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50 kg in First Class.

"The service excellence awards aim to create a competitive platform for organisations where their value for service excellence in the country is taken to a higher level, therefore the awards will promote and nurture service excellence in Zimbabwe" said the Contact Centre Association.
