Local refrigerator manufacturer, Imperial and Commercial Refrigeration is expecting to realise over $600 000 by March next year following a big order from beverages manufacturer Coca-Cola company for the supply of refrigerator units, a senior company official said.

Chief executive officer, Mr Callisto Jokonya on Wednesday confirmed the deal on the sidelines of the Business Breakfast Talk and Networking forum in Harare.

Mr Jokonya said that the deal has also seen the temporary creation of about 20 to 25 jobs.

"There has been remarkable improvement in our operations as we have managed to strike a big order with Coca-Cola company which will see us producing more than 2 000 units (bottle coolers) for the period up to March next year.

"The project translates to about $680 000 in revenue for us, while an additional 20 to 25 jobs have also been created for this big project," he said.

Imperial has also managed to strike a strategic alliance with a South African company, Frigoglass who are also into manufacturing and supply of refrigerators, a move likely to mitigate the shortages of raw materials locally.

"We managed to strike a strategic deal with Fricoglass of South Africa where we are now getting most of our raw materials from together with certain additional technical requirements that we need in order to meet the required Coca-Cola international standards," he said.
