Econet expects 8% rise in full year revenues

Published: 18 February 2015

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, the country's largest cellular operator by subscribers, has revealed that it is expecting to report turnover of $752.7 million for the twelve months to February 2015, up 8% year-on-year, largely driven by the growth in data and overlay services.

Net profit is expected to stand at $119.4 million, unchanged from the previous year.

The operator is due to publish its full annual results within the next few months.

Econet Wireless claimed around nine million subscribers at the end of September 2014, although recent figures from the country's telecoms regulator POTRAZ suggest that at least two million of these could be inactive accounts.
