African Sun unveils 'new' Holiday Inn Mutare
Published: 23 July 2017
AFRICAN Sun-owned Amber Hotel Mutare was recently rebranded to Holiday Inn Mutare in a move that is likely to bring competitiveness in the hospitality sector in Manicaland Province, with owners forking out $1, 5 million to freshen up the facility.

Operating under the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the leading global hotel companies, Holiday Inn Mutare features 96 rooms, an outdoor pool and a conference room that accommodates 250 people.

In a statement, African Sun said the rebranded facility was embracing its future with a completely reimagined brand identity that showcases the hotel's exceptional offerings and appeal as an integral part of contemporary travellers' aspirations.

Speaking at the launch recently, African Sun MD Edwin T Shangwa said: "We are happy to be partnering with IHG once again. We have successfully launched two Holiday Inn hotels together, and have seen great success across both properties. Now that the hotel has opened its doors, it will benefit equally from IHG's global distribution systems, strong brand portfolio and loyalty programmes."

Shangwa said Holiday Inn Mutare complement their existing hotels in Harare and Bulawayo.

"The hotel is the perfect complement to our existing portfolio of hotels in Harare and Bulawayo; guests at the hotel can look forward to experiencing the Intercontinental Hotel Group. Relax, it's Holiday Inn's philosophy to deliver excellent service, comfort and style,'' he said.

"Let me highlight that the Holiday Inn is the only international brand not only under the African Sun portfolio but the only international hotel brand in Zimbabwe. This re-launch of the Holiday Inn brand in Mutare therefore increases the number of Holiday Inns managed by African Sun to three hotels - Holiday Inn Bulawayo, Holiday Inn Harare and Holiday Inn Mutare.''

Holiday Inn Mutare offers stylish comfort and the hotel is renowned for providing a relaxed ambience at family-friendly prices.

The rebranding was meant to achieve international standards for the hotel as competition in the industry continues to rise. Although Amber Hotel Mutare had been doing extremely well, investors found it reasonable to trace their roots by renaming the hotel Holiday Inn Mutare.

The hotel is an ideal springboard to activities into the Eastern Highlands which spread all the way from Nyanga to Chimanimani and the facility is an ideal stopover en-route to and from Mozambique.
