THE Agricultural Bank of Zimbabwe (Agribank) is phasing out manual withdrawals to embrace electronic and mobile banking payments.

The bank is upgrading its information and communication technology (ICT) systems to bring out efficient services to its customers, it said in a statement.

"Please note that the bank will be phasing out paper withdrawals and embracing fully, card and mobile banking payments effective 1 October 2017. Pursuant to the foregoing and as an integral part of the ongoing ICT systems upgrade we request our customers to visit their nearest branch and update their customer information," reads the statement.

The bank said it was committed to bringing enhanced and efficient service to its customers. In June this year, Agribank set up a $10 million facility to support horticulture farmers across the country.

The bank targets farmers who grow vegetables, fruits and nuts. Others are peas, sugar snaps, beans, onions, potatoes, carrots, cherry tomatoes, mushroom, citrus, banana, avocado, berries, passion fruit, nectarines, peaches, apples, macadamia, cashew, pecan, and hazel nuts.

This was aimed at promoting the growth and development of the local horticulture market to produce for the domestic and export markets.

The sector's productivity has largely been hamstrung by challenges such as labour shortages, funding constraints, and power cuts.
