A Zimbabwe Women's Bank is expected to start operations in October as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) edges closer in granting an operating permit to the institution.

The Women in Business Forum held in the capital on Tuesday (today) created a platform on modalities to ensure women take part in mainstream business activities.

RBZ deputy governor, Dr Jesimeni Chipika told the ZBC News on the sidelines of the forum, central bank authorities are at an advanced stage to approve the establishment of a Women's Bank paving way for its establishment by October.

Implementation of women empowerment policies is also required said Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce president, Mrs Devine Ndhlukula.

The inclusion of women in key developmental policies is also important, according to Zimbabwe Gender Commission chairperson, Ms Mukahanana Sangarwe.

Some of the issues under spotlight include women’s representation in board of directors, management positions and access to finance, shares, business decision making and involvement in male dominated industries among other factors.
