Government will, beginning in September start providing 111 online services under the ZIMCONNECT platform as part of the initiatives to address the Ease of Doing Business Constraints.

Chief secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said this was part of the many services Government intends to introduce to improve efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability of Government's operations.

Some of the online services include company registration, corporate name change, deeds search, processing of mining and investment licenses and liquor license applications.

"The core of this programmes is the ZIMCONNECT platform under the Ministry of Information communication Technology which, by the end of August 2017, will be providing 111 on-line services to the nation.

"Many of these services have been introduced as part of Government's efforts to address Ease of Doing Business constraints, again coordinated by the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC)," said Dr Sibanda in a presentation made on his behalf by Permanent Secretary for Corporate Governance Unit in the OPC Ambassador Stuart Comberbach.

Other components of the programme that are expected about to be launched soon include document and case management system for the Attorney General's office as well as a system to log all beneficiaries of the land reform programme.

The programme should also eventually lead to the establishment of a virtual one-stop investment shop for the Zimbabwe Investment Authority as well as a document management system for the Cabinet secretariat.

Dr Sibanda also highlighted the importance of information and communication technology in modernising Government through deploying appropriate technologies.
