Small scale miners in Matabeleland South say their access to loan facilities has been very limited compromising their potential.

The miners have also called on the need to speed up claims disputes which are stalling production.

Small scale miners generally believe the sector holds a huge untapped potential but is being hampered by lack of adequate funding.

The miners also called for the speeding up of claims disputes as the delay tended to have a negative effect to production.

Zimbabwe Miners Federation public relations and promotion manager, Mr Doseman Mangisi pointed out that the problem of funding could be best addressed through the setting up of a mining sector biased financial institution.

On disputes over claims among small scale miners, Mangisi revealed that a regulatory body had already been set up to look into such issues.
