MOONLIGHT Funeral Services yesterday officially opened a newly refurbished wing at its Gweru branch where it has invested $100 000.

The company is rolling out a refurbishment exercise across its branches countrywide.

Speaking at the official opening event, group chief executive officer, Dr Chomi Makina, said the firm was using its cash flows in upgrading the parlours.

"We are doing the projects bit by bit based on our cash flows. As we get some money we will be doing more refurbishments," he said.

"It (Gweru branch) was opened in 1995 and we were renting a building. Since then up until last year when we purchased a house that we converted into a funeral parlour, it took us almost a year to refurbish the place."

Dr Makina said the firm was committed to offering quality services to clients. He applauded the success of the Command Agriculture programme, which he said has positively impacted on their cash flows as most farmers have joined their funeral policy plan.

"We are riding on the success of Command Agriculture. Most farmers are now opting for our favourable funeral cover, which specifically targets them," said Dr Makina.

He said the firm has also introduced a new basic premium, micro-insurance product, which targets mostly vendors.

"In this economic quagmire we have also created a new funeral cover that targets low income earners who mostly comprise vendors. Our clients will be only paying 0,45 cents per week," he said.

So far the company has done refurbishments at its Plumtree, Kwekwe, Chiredzi and Beitbridge branches.
