Hwange Colliery Company Limited [HCCL] allegedly barred its workers from meeting Members of Parliament investigation team, amid allegations of mismanagement and corruption at the coal miner, it has been revealed.

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare had invited the workers for a hearing at the colliery last week, but the mine's management allegedly prevented the meeting from taking place.

The move has infuriated Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions president Peter Mutasa, who has vowed to take the matter up with the authorities. Mutasa said the threats by the mine management showed they had something to hide.
