There is an urgent need for policy makers to implement practical initiatives in resolving trade constraints that the country is facing, Kumbirayi Katsande, the CEO of Nestle, has said.

Responding to research findings on trade and investment revealed by the World Bank yesterday at a conference in Harare, Katsande said, "We have had many papers and researches on the challenges facing the country but there has been little recommendation on how to practically resolve these problems.

"The findings you have presented are no longer new to us and therefore they need to be presented to those that have the capacity to implement change.

"If there are hard decisions to be made to resolve these problems, then it should be reveled so that these challenges are resolved."

The World Bank in their research revealed that trade performance is worsening in the country due to the high cost of trade which are made of tariffs barriers, transport costs and delays on the border, among a host of issues.

The World Bank revealed that these constraints have affected the competiveness of local goods on the global market and has reduced the global value chain for Zimbabwe.
