Inflation remains unchanged

Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation remained unchanged in August after showing an upward trajectory for six consecutive months between November 2016 and May 2017.

Zimbabwe recorded price inflation of 0,14 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in August.

The food and non-alcoholic beverages sub-index (weight: 33,5 percent) increased by 1,8 percent y-o-y in August, more or less unchanged from the previous three months.

The housing, water, gas and other fuels sub-index (weight: 17,7 percent) declined by 2,4 percent y-o-y in August, similar to the previous two months.

Lastly, the education sub-index (weight: 5,7 percent) fell by 3,3 percent y-o-y in August, similar to the previous month.
