Project Manager- We CARE

About this position:

 WE-CARE- Women’s Economic Empowerment and Care is an Oxfam initiative that supports a variety of approaches to reducing and re-distributing unpaid care work so that women’s time poverty is reduced, gender equality is increased and women have more equal opportunities to participate in social, economic or political activities. WE-CARE is funded with support from Unilever and Surf brand.

The post-holder will put in place and ensure the maintenance of programme management systems that ensure programme and reporting quality. An important part of this will be the motivation and management of project staff and the maintenance of productive relationships with partners including local Governments. This role will work closely with partners to support the implementation of the WE-CARE programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery of the programme including technical support to partners, monitoring, report writing and effective communication.

What We Are Looking For:

    Masters degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business, or other discipline relating to development
    A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in a similar role – specifically in managing complex development programmes funded by different donors
    Experience of financial management, budgeting and financial reporting
    Experience of managing or supervising projects notably in partnership with local NGOs/ or within the staffing of local NGOs
    Sound understanding of the barriers, opportunities facing women in rural communities within Zimbabwe
    Strong interest in Gender and Women’s Economic Empowerment programs and WROs work
    Understanding of issues of unpaid care
    Understanding of Water/Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives
    Strong technical competence in participatory research approaches, baseline surveys, learning and monitoring and evaluation methods and, good critical grasp of latest sector thinking, codes, standards and practice
    Experience of preparing project documentation notably internal and/or donor narrative and financial reports, programme updates, budgets, contracts, case studies.
    Management skills & experience, including line management, management of other resources, evidence of capacity to support others.
