ZTA warns against fake agents

ZTA warns against fake agents
Published: 16 July 2013
Some unscrupulous individuals are allegedly tricking people by purporting to be agents of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), offering commercial packages, recruitment and related activities for the forthcoming 20th session of the UNWTO General Assembly.

The ZTA has expressed concern over actions by such individuals.

ZTA head corporate affairs and publicity Sugar Chagonda said the authority has not in any way sub-contracted, appointed or authorised any agent to run with the UNWTO activities on its behalf.

Chagonda said the General Assembly is the supreme organ of the UNWTO and its ordinary sessions are attended by delegates of its full and affiliate members only as well as specially invited guests.

This leaves the ZTA with no jurisdiction to invite participants outside the afore-stated brackets to attend the closed-door meetings during the general assembly.

Two events around the UNWTO General Assembly that are open to the public are; the Welcome Carnival to take place on 23 August and the Tourism Night musical concert wich will be held on 24 August 2013 at the Victoria Falls Primary School.

Meanwhile, preparations for the event are at an advanced stage.
