Zimbabwe's indigenisation law has flaws

A local think-tank has said Zimbabwe's indigenisation and economic empowerment law has no provision granting the responsible minister to revoke operating licences from foreign companies defying the regulations despite past threats by outgoing minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

Addressing delegates attending the Alternative Mining Indaba in Harare on Tuesday, Research and Advocacy Unit senior researcher Derek Matyszak said that there was no law compelling foreign firms to adhere to approved compliance plans.
