THE Zimbabwe National of Chamber Commerce (ZNCC) has partnered with a Bulawayo-based organisation, Lead-Us-Today (LUT) in a development likely to boost membership base.

LUT is a non-profit organisation founded by Dalumuzi Mhlanga in 2010 seeking to inspire, mobilise and empower Zimbabwean youths to work together beyond socioeconomic barriers and lead community development efforts.

Speaking at an event organised by LUT on Friday, ZNCC regional marketing officer Velile Dube said ZNCC has partnered with LUT as a way of seeking best strategies on how they could help each other in bringing about development.

"As ZNCC, we have partnered with LUT and we are on the verge of signing a memorandum of understanding so that we can start doing career guidance sessions together," Dube said.

"We want to bring all companies in Bulawayo in one room so that you will know how you will benefit out of those companies. The companies will then tell us of your capabilities and how they can induct you," he added.

Dube said such programmes would assist students to become aware of what they want to do in future.

Speaking at the same occasion, Bulawayo provincial education director Dan Moyo said LUT was inculcating entrepreneurial skills to young people of Bulawayo.

He said such skills were necessary especially in Zimbabwe where many people were not employed due to economic challenges.

"We want to see you the young generation of this programme succeed so that when you leave the school you have something to do. We will certainly attach you in industries given that you are still at school," Moyo said.

The ZNCC recognises the importance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their contribution to economic growth, social cohesion, employment and local development.

The chamber strives to ensure SMEs improve their ability to leverage investment opportunities, expand their reach and achieve their development and investment goals and contribute in strengthening and diversifying the national economy.
