THE country's export promotion body, ZimTrade, will lead 12 companies to this year's Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show (ZACS) to be held next month.

ZimTrade chief executive officer, Ms Sithembile Pilime, said the fair would provide a platform for local companies to showcase their products from a cross section of sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, automotive and financial services.

The organisation has been taking companies to the exhibition over the last three years.

This year's 91st edition of ZACS will run from August 2 to 7 under the theme: "Promoting a Green Economy".

"The show provides a platform for exhibitors to explore potential markets, interact with buyers, gather competitive intelligence and meet with potential suppliers of raw materials and inputs such as components and machinery," said Ms Pilime.

She said the showcase would also present the Zimbabwean companies, who include four Small to Medium Enterprises, an opportunity to tap into the Zambian market.

Zambia is the fourth largest export destination for Zimbabwean products accounting for 3.4 percent and 2.5 percent of total exports in 2015 and 2016.

One of the participating companies, shoe manufacturer Millennium Footwear managing director, Mr Stuart Simali, said taking part at the exhibition will play a big part in expanding and consolidating their market in Zambia.

"We are very happy to take part in this show as it will help us to manufacture and supply shoes that are demanded by the Zambian market. We are actually aware that our shoes are in demand in Zambia so this will also help us meet other potential buyers and customers in Lusaka since we have been to Ndola as well this year," said Mr Simali.

He said the presence of other countries from across the continent and various parts of the world at the exhibition would also present them with a rare opportunity to market their wide range of shoes and leather products. Millennium Footwear manufactures shoes under its three brands namely Wild, Stone Crush and Gun Smoke.
