Minister Gumbo not dead
Published: 02 December 2017
Contrary to reports on the social media that the newly appointed Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Dr Joram Gumbo had died in a car accident, the Minister today attended the 17th graduation ceremony of the Midlands State University (MSU) in Gweru.

Upon seeing the Minister, ZBC Chief Correspondent, Reuben Barwe could not wait to interview him on the issue.

"I am here in Gweru at the Midlands State University attending the graduation ceremony that is being conducted by His Excellency, the President, E.D Mnangagwa and I am alive. I am told the accident happened in Harare and I think somebody just saw a car which was involved in an accident and thought it was mine. They just assumed that it was me who had died in a car accident, while I am not even in Harare, I have been in the Midlands since yesterday.  I can't die in Harare when I am in the Midlands. So I am telling people that I am alive and still waiting for Christ for the time when I die," said Minister Gumbo.

The Mberengwa West legislator confirmed that he was overwhelmed by phone calls from people wanting to find out about him being alive.

Interestingly, just after giving the ZBC News an interview, he received a call from the newly appointed Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr David Parirenyatwa, whom he told to reserve his tears for now as he is still live and kicking.

Dr Gumbo will be sworn in as Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development in Harare following his appointment in a new cabinet announced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
