President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly announced that the country will hold its general elections on July 30.

The elections would be the first since the ouster of former president Robert Mugabe following a military operation in November.

According to Proclamation (2 of 2018) by President Mnangagwa issued today, elections will be held on Monday 30 July.

If the elections fail to provide a clear winner, a runoff will be held on Saturday, September 8 2018.

The Nomination Court, on June 14 will commence at 10am at the High Court and for aspiring MPs at the country's main magistrates' court.

The vote will pit him against a clutch of opponents, including 40-year-old Nelson Chamisa from the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change.
