Politburo meeting postponed

THE Zanu-PF Politburo meeting which was set to be held in Harare tomorrow to discuss a number of issues ahead of the party's national people's conference in December, has been postponed to December 5.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Simon Khaya Moyo said the meeting would be held at the party headquarters at 10AM.

"The Politburo of the revolutionary Zanu-PF will meet on Wednesday 5 December 2018 at the party headquarters commencing at 10AM and not on 28 November as earlier advised. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted," he said.

The meeting is taking place at a time the nation is preparing for a new farming season and the ruling party's annual conference set for Esigodini in Matabeleland South.

Khaya Moyo said preparations for the annual indaba are on course with a delegation led by the party's national chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri expected to visit the venue of the conference on Friday.

"Preparations for the national people's conference in Esigodini are going on well. The national chairperson of the party Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri will be leading a delegation comprising the co-ordinating committee to Esigodini on Friday to assess progress," he said.

"Muchinguri-Kashiri will also dialogue with the provincial leadership to discuss progress in terms of the preparations."

The conference, which runs from December 10 to December 15 under the theme "Zimbabwe is Open for Business: In Unity and Peace towards an upper middle income economy by 2030", is expected to attract 5 000 delegates drawn from the country's 10 provinces.
