Afdis to install new bottling line

Zimbabwe stock exchange listed wines and spirits producer, African Distillers Limited is planning to install a million dollar bottling line in a bid to modernise its production and improve capacity utilisation.

Afdis managing director Mr Cecil Gombera said while the firm's production capacity was high, new methods of production would be beneficial.

"We are planning to install a new bottling line by June 2014 so that we will be able to do local bottling of some of the brands that we have been importing.

"We are on a modernisation drive to match the demands of the regional and international markets, at the same time meeting the demands of our growing base of consumers.

"We want to make sure employment is created considering that the country has been hit by unemployment, and most companies have been operating at an uneven balance sheet," he said.

Mr Gombera said Afdis has laid the foundation of future growth with a strong emphasis on local production following a 21 percent growth for the half year ended December 31, 2012. Afdis last week launched a new beverage Esprit that is now being bottled locally.
