Sugar producer Tongaat Hulett says import tariffs introduced in Zimbabwe would benefit sales and prices in the next financial year.
The group holds a 50.3% shareholding in Hippo Valley Estates while it wholly owns Triangle Sugar in Zimbabwe.
The Durban-based company also lauded the Zimbabwean authorities for acting swiftly to remove illegal settlers off its sugar plantations last week.
Tongaat reported a 6% increase in full-year earnings yesterday, after softer global sugar prices and weak domestic demand weighed.
