MMCZ says it intends to revive a metallurgical plant in Kwekwe that processes refractory ore, an initiative that will promote gold production, particularly from various small-scale miners dotted around the area.

When the metallurgical plant became defunct several years ago, the bulk of gold from refractory ore was being processed outside the country, particularly in Botswana.

MMCZ general manager Masimba Chandavengerwa said the state enterprise was scouting for a suitable technical partner towards efforts to revive the moribund metallurgical plant in Kwekwe.
