Tobacco farmers net $34m

The 2018 tobacco sales have reached 12, 2 million kilogrammes with growers earning $34 million in 11 days. Zimbabwe's tobacco marketing season opened on March 21 and is expected to continue until the beginning of August.

Sales statistics from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board show a six percent change in pricing as the 2018 average price has increased to $2, 76 per kg from $2, 62 per kg recorded last year during the same period.

The highest price recorded on day 11 was $5, 40 sold under the contact sales, while the auction sales recorded $4, 99 as the highest price and $0, 20 as the lowest price.
