CELL Insurance Group is planning to open two additional health facilities before year-end as part of efforts to spread its reach across the country, The Financial Gazette has reported.

Addressing delegates at a ZESA Holdings risk management awards ceremony in the capital last week, Cell Insurance's chief executive officer, Isheunesu Makuzwa, said the new facilities would be opened in Harare and Bulawayo.

The company, through its Nectacare (Pvt) Limited unit - formerly Cellmed (Pvt) Limited - recently acquired Highlands Family Clinic, a surgery in Zvishavane and a hospital in Shurungwi. Cell Holdings is currently looking at making similar strides in other areas across the country.

"Nectacare (Pvt) Limited was born out of the need to provide affordable healthcare solutions to the general populace of  Zimbabwe. The Highlands Family Clinic in Zvishavane was the first centre opened under the Nectacare brand and is the company's flagship facility," Makuzwa said.

"We have since opened another surgery in Zvishavane, acquired a hospital in Shurugwi and we will be opening a surgery in Harare and a hospital in Bulawayo by the third and fourth quarter of this year," Makuzwa said without revealing the financial commitment to the projects.

Cell Insurance was formed in 2003 as a unit of ZESA Holdings and became the first and only licensed captive insurance company in Zimbabwe, a market that predominantly offered conventional insurance products only.

But today, the insurance company has expanded to provide a diverse range of risk financing solutions in Zimbabwe.

It offers short-term insurance products for both corporate and individual customers, through alternative risk transfer solutions, conventional insurance solutions as well as enterprise wide risk management solutions.

The Cell Holdings group comprises CellMed Health Medical Fund and Nectacare.

Through CellMed Health Medical Fund, Cell Insurance has been able to provide access to affordable healthcare funding to people from various sectors of the economy.

"We have a strong and stable service provider network that allows members to access healthcare services from any part of the nation, including access to treatment regionally and internationally," Makuzwa said.
