CBD exodus haunts property sector

MASHONALAND Holdings Limited (Masholds) has started engaging local authorities in Zimbabwe to find a lasting solution to heightened exodus from central business districts (CBDs) by companies fleeing a deteriorating climate.

Masholds said the exodus was now haunting the property market.

The listed real estate manager announced the strategy as revenues for the half year ended March 31, 2018 fell by two percent to $2,351 million, after turning over $2,394 million the previous comparable period.

The firm reported marginal slowdowns in occupancy levels to 71 percent from 72 percent the previous period, but said major tenants had kept their space.
