Zim to reopen closed mines, says Hungwe

Government is working hard to reopen some closed mines, with Mhangura Copper Mines being one of those targeted under the programme, Zanu-PF national secretary for labour Josiah Hungwe has said.

Addressing a campaign rally in Mhangura last week, Hungwe who is leading Zanu-PF campaigns in Mashonaland West Province urged voters to vote for Zanu-PF, a party that is working to provide jobs for the citizens.

"We are currently reopening all the mines that where closed by the G40-led cabal Government and Shabanie Mine and Eureka Gold Mine have already been opened.

"We are confident that Mhangura Copper Mine(s) are also going to be reopened as President Mnangagwa is moving around securing investors across the length and breadth of the world."

He also revealed how he helped former Zanu-PF national secretary for administration and Home Affairs Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo to launch his political career.

He said Zanu-PF rewards loyal cadres, but would not hesitate to deal with wayward members.

"In case you didn't know, I am the one who organised a job for former Finance Minister and secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo.

"I want to assure you that if you vote for Zanu-PF come July 30, you will definitely get the jobs as we are moving forward to see that our nation has formally employed people."

Hungwe said youths who trained as teachers and nurses should register with the department of labour or approach their political leadership for assistance in getting jobs.

"Those who trained as teachers and nurses should vote for Zanu-PF to ensure a resounding victory so that they get jobs while the party will ensure that you are helped in securing employment," he said.

"As a party, we will reward our hard working supporters, but let me assure you that those of you who try to be bigger than the party, what happened to Chombo and those that sold land corruptly, would also happen to you," he said.

Meanwhile, the party's National Secretary for Environment and Tourism, Prisca Mupfumira said Government was also working on reviving the Cold Storage Company in Chinhoyi.

The CSC branch in Masvingo has already been re-opened. Mupfumira urged supporters to vote for Zanu-PF for continued development and success. Zanu-PF House of Assembly candidate Precious Chinhamo Masango said she would add a further $60 000 to Government's $50 000 Constituency Development Fund.

"There is a lot that needs to be done in the constituency hence we will add an extra $60 000 for development," she said.
