John Snow, Inc. (JSI) seeks a dynamic and highly experienced candidate for the Technical Director position for an anticipated USAID funded Maternal Newborn and Child Health/Family Planning (MNCH/FP) project. The project's goal is to improve maternal, youth and child health and survival in beneficiary communities and populations through a combined maternal, newborn and child health and family planning activity.

Should JSI be the successful bidder, this full-time position will be based in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and supervision to all technical staff in implementing MNCH activities; Coordinate the design, implementation and scale up of MNCH interventions, ensuring global standards of excellence in health service delivery programming; Work closely with the SMT, local team, JSI HQ and USAID in ensuring that all aspects of program strategy, design, planning, implementation, and monitoring are technically sound and uphold the standards of good public health; Use knowledge of best practices in maternal, newborn, child health and quality improvement to work within JSI in strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the JSI program in Zimbabwe; Serve as a key resource and provide technical input and direction to the JSI team, the MOHCC and other partners in the areas of maternal, newborn and child health to promote the use of best practices at scale.

Required qualifications
MD or Nurse Midwife with Master of Public Health and at least 10 years of clinical experience in maternal, newborn and child health and programming; At least five years’ experience working with the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health in a senior management or advisory capacity; Organizational level capacity building experience; Significant technical expertise and knowledge of major issues in MNCH, Quality Improvement and FP in low-resource settings; Strong policy and advocacy skills, good analytic ability, capacity to collect, use and present evidence to identify and solve problems with groups of decision makers and program managers; Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as strong verbal and written communications skills; Good facilitation, team building and planning skills.
