Duties & responsibilities

Mentoring of project partners
Plan, coordinate and hold regular meetings on child protection issues; provide necessary support to partners on identified child protection gaps; offer capacity building and technical support to all partners on child protection activities; work closely with the Department of Social Welfare in the implementation of the National Case Management System; Support and Supervise implementation of child protection activities at partner organization; Assist with the preparation of budgets for programme activities

Capacity building
Participate in training needs assessment and analysis; Plan for and conduct training activities for organisation partners on child protection issues; Train, mentor, supervise and support partner organizations in the implementation of all child protection related activities; Provide technical oversight over the implementation of all child protection activities; Participate in development of child protection resource materials; Distribute materials for on-going education of personnel at all levels; Provide information whenever necessary, to implementing partners and community cadres

Networking
Maintain good relations with the Child Protection partners, DSW, UNICEF and Social work institutions; Maintaining constant communication with key stakeholders through meetings; Networking with other groups and individuals that are implementing the OVC program including child protection and other services in the community; Facilitate sharing of information on child protection among stakeholders; Represent the organisation at various child protection forums/stakeholders meetings; Uphold the image of the organisation within the community; Advocate for the improvement or change of practices and policies that are a hindrance to the effectiveness of implementing child protection services; Facilitate linkages between organizations providing care and support to OVC

Monitoring and evaluation
Participate in developing monitoring tools for the OVC program; Ensure maintenance of accurate records; Coordinate and spearhead the development of appropriate child protection tools, and share with partners; Monitor adherence and implementation of child protection policies in partner organizations; Collect and analyse data pertaining to child protection activities; Present written reports to the Program Manager at stipulated times; Participate in activities to disseminate programme evaluation findings; Undertake necessary research

Minimum qualifications and experience
Advanced degree in Child Development, Psychology, Social Work or similar qualification; A minimum of five years' experience in social work; Experience in working with communities and different stakeholders; Experience in training and facilitation in care and support issues; Good written and verbal communication skills including interpersonal skills A clean class four driver's licence
