ZSE Industrials maintains upward momentum

The local bourse today maintained the upward momentum, albeit marginally, as the Industrial Index gained 0.58 points (or 0.34 percent) to close at 173.46 points driven by gains in heavyweight Delta.

Six counters traded positively, compared to three that traded in the red.

Giant beverages manufacturer Delta gained 1.01 cents to 116.01 cents, while TA Holdings was up 0.25 cents to 5.75 cents.

Turnall led the top risers up 50 percent to settle at 3 cents after chief executive John Jere told the company's AGM yesterday that they were projecting turnover to grow by 16 percent to $50 million this year on the back of a 20 percent increase in volumes.

Crocodile skin manufacturer Padenga advanced 0.05 cents to 7.80 cents and Barclays inched up 0.01 cents to close at 3.51 cents.

On the downside, Old Mutual lost 0.50 cents to 246 cents, while SeedCo eased 0.01 cents to trade at 71 cents.

The Mining Index added 0.52 points (or 1.80 percent) to close at 29.39 points attributable to gains in Bindura, which was up 0.12 cents to trade at 1.50 cents. RioZim slipped a cent to close at 19 cents while Falgold and Hwange maintained previous trading levels.
