SECz applies for IOSCO membership

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECz) has applied for Inter-national Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) membership to align local capital markets regulatory and supervisory practices with Best Practice Standards.

SECz has also become a regular member of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development- International Net-work on Financial Education.

The latest SECZ Newsletter (Qu1, 2014) highlights Zimbabwe's need for Codes on Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment and the importance of Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance practices:

"Key investors these days are no long-er interested in how much profit has been made, but how the profit has been made".

On 19 March 2014, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) successfully concluded contract negotiations with InfoTech, a company engaged by the ZSE for the supply and installation of the Automated Trading System (ATS).

The ZSE is reviewing its Listing Requirements. Public comment on the First Draft was available from the 10th March - 10th April 2014. A second draft will be issued in due course.
