Heavyweights keep equities market down

The equities market extended losses on the back losses in a number of heavyweight counters led by beverages giant Delta.

The industrial index retreated 1.30 (or 0,86 percent) to settle at 150.55 after Delta decreased by 3 cents to close at 102 cents, while giant retailer OK Zim was a cent lower at 8 cents.

NTS dropped 0,50 cents to trade at 2 cents, while Econet and Seed Co dropped 0,01 cents each to 41,99 cents and 95 cents in that order.

On the downside, giant insurer Old Mutual gained 0,50 cents to close at 267,50 cents and Meikles added 0,01 cents to trade at 7,01 cents.

A special bargain in Seed Co was main contributor as the value of trades reached $948 472.

The mining index was steady again at 40.28 as Bindura, Falgold, Hwange and RioZim maintained previous price levels at 3,21 cents, 1 cent, 3,90 cents, and 15 cents, respectively.
