Moderate gains in big caps see ZSE close 0.9% higher

The ZSE closed 0.9% higher after moderate gains in Econet and Innscor offset losses in Cassava and Delta. The session yielded ten gainers and ten fallers, with mid-tier stocks featuring prominently among the top movers and while value traded was concentrated in the blue chip counters.
 
At the close of trade market capitalization stood at $30.57 billion (US$2.01 billion) turnover reached $5 million (US$0.33 million) with 2 million shares traded in 135 trades. Dual listed Old Mutual drew the most trades and value traded at 23 worth $1.8 million.
 
On the blue chip counters; British American Tobacco (BAT) drew two trades worth $40k as it closed unchanged at $50 (US$3.28), Cassava drew five trades valued at $2.5k, Delta closed 0.7% lower at $3.9764 (US$0.26) in seven trades worth $439k, Econet drew 16 trades worth $673k as it gained 0.4% to close at $1.8883 (US$0.12) and Innscor closed 1.2% higher at $3.11 (US$0.20) in 14 trades valued at $739k.
 
For the dual listed stocks; PPC closed at $4.2475 (US$0.28) after no trades and SeedCo International shed 0.1% to close at $2.7088 (US$0.18) in two trades worth $23k.
 
The All Share Index inched a marginal 0.9% to close at 233.72 while the Industrial Index climbed 0.92% to close at 778.25. The Top 10 Index added 1.32% to reach 219.76 and the Minings Index advanced 0.03% after gains Bindura Nickel.
 
Beverages manufacturer Afdis led the top gainers with a 20% rise to close at $1.98 (US$0.13) in three trades worth $28k. Old Mutual followed with a 17.4% rise to close at $29.9724 (US$1.97), leaving its YTD at +277.91%. Consumer stock Dairibord closed 12.8% higher at 42 cents, leaving its market cap at $150.36 million. Brick manufacturer Willdale gained 11.8% to close at 4.47 cents, leaving its YTD at +413.79%. Industrial holding Padenga advanced 9.1% to $2.7264 (US$0.18) in ten trades worth $726k.
 
Insurance group First Mutual led the top fallers, losing 18% to close at 21 cents in one trade worth $252. Agro-industrial stock SeedCo Limited shed 4.5% to close at $2.0039 (US$0.13), leaving its YTD at -3.56%. Hospitality and tourism group African Sun closed 4% lower at 48 cents in one trade worth $672. Cassava retreated 2.7% to close at $1.6573 (US$0.11), leaving its YTD at +15.81%. Retail stock OKZim shed 2.3% to close at 56.53 cents, leaving its market cap at $687.41 million.
