President Mugabe has proclaimed September 3 as the date for the swearing in of newly-elected Members of Parliament and September 17 for the first sitting of the Eighth Parliament, paving way for the appointment of Cabinet ministers possibly this week.

In an Extraordinary Government Gazette published on Friday, President Mugabe said the MPs-elect shall take the Oath of Affirmation of Loyalty before the Clerk of Parliament on Tuesday.

The ceremony will begin at 9am while the First Session of the Eighth Parliament commences at midnight on September 17.
