Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan province Miriam Chikukwa has urged opposition parties to put political differences aside when it comes to issues of national development.

Addressing guests at a Zim-Asset symposium held in Harare yesterday, Chikukwa said politicians should stop politicking issues and embrace programmes and efforts being made by government to turn around the country's economy.

"Government should increase the levels of awareness on ZimAsset in order to ensure that people are in line with its targets. The economic blueprint is meant to be of benefit to every Zimbabwean despite one's political affiliation," she said.

Chikukwa challenged political players to play a leading role in the development of the nation thereby complementing government's efforts of empowering the nation through the utilisation and beneficiation of the national resources.

She urged communities to come up with ideas and solutions that build Zimbabwe.

"ZimAsset is saying; let's build our country by working together so as to move the country foward," she said.

She said every citizen had a role to play in the development of the nation as well as in advancing government's efforts.

She, however, castigated other political players who think Western countries hold the key to the country's economic success.
