ZIMBABWE'S premier mining, engineering and transport (Mine-Entra) exhibition kicks off today with over 180 exhibitors showcasing their products in a space covering more than 4 000m² of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) exhibition centre.

The exhibition, which has attracted local, regional and international exhibitors, runs until Friday under the theme "Innovation, Beneficiation and Growth".

ZITF Company's general manager Noma Ndlovu said yesterday all was set for the exhibition and her firm was happy with preparations.

"All is now set for the annual mining, engineering and transport exhibition, Mine-Entra 2014 and as organisers, we are happy with our preparations and overall progress.

"As the final stages of selling the exhibition come to a close; over 90% of exhibition space has been taken and we still expect a few last-minute bookings. The exhibition has attracted bookings from 185 direct exhibitors occupying over 4 600m²," she added.

Seventeen exhibitors are foreign companies representing Belgium, China, Germany, Nigeria-Belize Chamber of Commerce, and South Africa.

Ndlovu added that the majority of exhibitors were expected yesterday while some started setting up their stands over the weekend.

She said products and services on display in Hall 4 ranged from mining equipment, services to the industry, heavy engineering, to chemicals, lubricants, pumps, water tools and building and construction equipment.

The external sites around the exhibition hall will have products such as heavy mining equipment, transport, hose pipes and generators.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Mines and Mining Development minister Walter Chidhakwa tomorrow.

The Zimbabwe Artisanal and Small-scale Miners' Council has confirmed their annual conference slatted for Friday, the last day of the exhibition, which is open to traders and business visitors.

Ndlovu urged all those attending the expo and its concurrent events to optimise on their participation and make use of the available technology by downloading the Mine-Entra mobile app for updates on all activities and to schedule their meetings with exhibitors.

"We would like to invite our exhibitors and visitors, particularly those coming from outside Bulawayo, to take this opportunity to visit our local tourist sites. Our strategic partner, Ecological Safaris, is on hand to assist participants with customised packages and guided tours," she said.
