NRZ introduces additional passenger trains

NRZ introduces additional passenger trains

In a bid to accommodate increasing demand for rail services ahead of  schools opening, NRZ has introduced additional passenger train coaches.

The second school term begins tomorrow.

In a statement, NRZ public relations manager Mr Fanuel Masikati said they had realised that during the schools' opening period, pupils usually got stranded at bus termini hence the boosting of the capacity of passenger trains countrywide.

"We will allocate additional passenger coaches to cater for school children travelling back to school.

"The NRZ is geared to ferry school children during the schools' opening period and would like to appeal to parents to book and buy tickets on time in order to avoid inconveniences," said Mr Masikati.

He said choosing rail services would serve school children from falling prey to unscrupulous transporters who "willy-nilly charge exorbitant fares at a time such as this, when school children will be desperate for affordable and alternative transport mode."
