Air Zimbabwe has added another new route to ferry passengers between Johannesburg and the resort town of Victoria Falls.

Initially the flights will be offered twice a week on Fridays and Sundays with prospects of increasing the frequency in response to the volume of passengers.

The inaugural flight touched down at Victoria Falls shortly before lunch on Friday afternoon and took off for Johannesburg with some passengers and journalists at 1.10pm aboard a leased Embraer jet.

Air Zimbabwe spokesperson Shingi Taruvinga said the new route was introduced in response to customer requirements and the high numbers of tourists travelling between Johannesburg and the Victoria Falls.
