The Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe says most hotels and lodges in Victoria Falls are already fully booked for the festive season.

With a few weeks to go before the country joins the rest of the world in celebrating Christmas Day, only a few hotels and lodges still have rooms available.

However, all of them are already fully booked for New Year because of the Victoria Falls Carnival which attracts thousands of locals and foreigners into the country`s premier tourist destination from the 29th to the 31st of December.

Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe Chairperson for the Victoria Falls Charter, Jonathan Hudson said the majority of visitors will be locals and Zimbabweans living in the diaspora who will be in the country to visit their families.

He added that there has been intensive advertising by various hotels which initiated various incentives to attract more clients.

Travel and Tourism Executive, Charles Chakanya said tour operators are busy taking bookings for various activities which include boat cruise, bungi jumping and game viewing, among others, adding that the special rates being offered for locals also attract large numbers.

The increase in tourist arrivals during this period is also being attributed to the successful co-hosting of the 20th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly which was held in Victoria Falls and Livingstone in August.
