Medical insurer, Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) has appointed renowned industrialist Luckson Zembe as its board chairperson.

In a press statement Sunday, PSMAS said it was responding to demands by its membership.

"You have spoken loudly and clearly. We have listened and heard you. We are taking swift and appropriate action to safeguard your interests and investments in your health and well-being through PSMAS.

"We will act with transparency, responsibility, accountability, fairness and probity," the statement said.

Zembe takes over from Meisie Namasasu who was dismissed for approving extravagance salaries at the expense of service delivery.

While the public reacted angrily to media reports on Dube and his crew's salaries, the PSMAS board extolled the former chief executive's virtues. Meanwhile, the board has appointed Farai Fredrick Muchena as acting CEO until a substantive replacement is appointed.
