The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange's mainstream Industrial Index surged by 2.81 points to close at 217.90 in a rally across the board.

Heavyweight counters dominated the session as cigarette-maker BAT Zim rose by $0, 0500 to trade at $18, 1500, while Padenga added $0, 0395 to close at $0, 3500 and Simbisa was up by $0, 0209 to settle at $0, 3310.

Other gains were in giant insurer Old Mutual and SeedCo which both added $0, 0150 to close at $4, 0282 and $1, 5425 respectively.

Edgars and Masimba went down by $0, 0020 each to close at $0, 0500 and $0, 0590 respectively.

Proplastics eased $0, 0012 to close at $0, 0670.

The Mining index was unchanged at 74.04.
