President Robert Mugabe, who is attending the Africa-Arab summit in Kuwait, on Tuesday met Independent Petroleum Group (IPG) chairman Mr Khalaf Ahmad Ali Al-Khalaf for talks, the New Ziana reported.

IPG is a Kuwaiti energy group which has business interests in Zimbabwe.

Mr Al-Khalaf said the meeting cantered on his company's plans to expand its business interests in Zimbabwe but did not give details.

The Kuwaiti energy company has been supplying fuel to Zimbabwe for a long time through the Mozambican pipeline.

"We discussed ways of increasing the project to handle oil," he said.

Zimbabwe and Kuwait enjoy good bilateral relations dating back from 1990 when Harare led the world at the United Nations (UN) in condemning the Iraqi invasion of its small Middle East neighbour.
