Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has clarified President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Zambian connection saying the President's family was forced into exile following his father's defiance against the colonial rule.

President Mnangagwa who is famed for bombing a train in Masvingo then Fort Victoria during the liberation struggle was born to a liberation icon, who stood against the white settler regime, forcing his family to temporarily move to Zambia to avoid political persecution.

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters at White City Stadium in Bulawayo today, Vice President Chiwenga said the fighting spirit of Mnangagwa has always been in his DNA as his father was against colonial rule.

In his address at the election campaign rally, Vice President Kembo Mohadi said the country is geared for a major transformation as the new dispensation continues to make strides to ensure the country achieves economic development.

Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Professor Callistus Ndlovu made a passionate plea to the President to address the water crisis that has hit Bulawayo's suburbs.

Since the beginning of this month, several households mainly in Bulawayo's western suburbs had their water supplies disconnected over unpaid bills.
